While working on food related writing and web design I decided that this was the day to finally make the homemade brioche I've been thinking about and also the lemon curd to accompany it. They both turned out very delicious and special. I can't wait to share it with some good friends. I used the Artisan in Five brioche recipe and it couldn't be easier. I will use this recipe whenever making brioche dough in the future. The only change I made was to bake it at 375*F because I couldn't find the temperature listed (probably in the book, but I don't own it yet). It baked in about 28 minutes.
The lemon curd recipe is from Fine Cooking and it was really simple. Just like the instructions say it will look curdled before it starts to come together in the pan so don't worry, it's supposed to look like that! I cooked it right in the pan instead of using a double boiler and I just really watched the heat, even lifting the pan off the stove a couple times when needed and no scorching or eggy parts. This curd came out wonderfully.
Right before serving you need to stir up the curd to make it fluffy since it thickens in the fridge. I love the little whisk I found at my local cookware store. It has come in handy quite often and little always seems to equal cute as far as I'm concerned. :)
Happy Easter!
